What happened to the gold of all the destroyed great temples of the world?

You think someone some where would know where it went. Because there was tons of it all over the world. The temple in Jerusalem after the city was sacked was it taken to Rome? When Rome was sacked and all the great temples destroyed where did all the gold go from there? Whole sautes of gold were melted down, but where did it go? Then the palaces in Baghdad where did all he gold go from there? It couldn't of just disappeared. Also all the gold missing from Germany after world war II where did it go? Does anyone know?

I suspect the US federal reserve is setting on tons of it at Fort Knox, and likewise so are many other countries all over the world. It is stored away in huge underground vaults in these countries. I suspect it is intended for emergencies in the event of something very dramatic happening, like major banks being on the verge of bankruptcy, and then and only then do they run to their rescue and bail them out so that next year they can post huge multi-million dollar profits in their quarterly reports.....And as Sonny and Cher once sang....And the beat goes on.

Well, since China only accepts payment of debit in gold I doubt that there is much left in Fort Knocks we are no longer on the gold standard and digits have no real value they are just digits. But that is what the banks are based on. Just watch the world markets come crummbling down. And they are.

Gold is easily melted and reused for the purposes of the conqueror or thief. When Rome sacked Jerusalem any treasure became the property of the commanding general and after being shown off to the Roman citizens, it would be used to pay his legions and thousands of Jews became slaves. When Rome was sacked, was there any gold in the great temples? Had the Romans moved their golden treasures to Constantinople? Payed Huns not to invade?
If you combined all the gold on Earth, you would have a cube approximately 10 meters square.
the largest piles of gold are in Ft. Knox, the Bank of England, South Africa's gold repository, and wherever other nations choose to hide their gold reserves. Since the world markets revolve around dollars that are valued by America's GNP, gold is really only valuable as jewelry or for it's use as a metal.

When gold is stolen the people who stole it hide it. Large gold objects are likely to get melted down into bars, to divide between thieves, and facilitate transport and hiding. Some undoubtedly sits in shipwrecks at the bottom of the sea. More is probably buried, possibly right in your backyard.

Gold is fungible... it can be beaten / melted and converted into anything else you chose. Your Mom's wedding ring may very well once have been part of an Egyptian Pharoh's burial treasure.

MOST statues are NOT solid gold, but gilded.

There is no great conspiracy to hide the gold.
